Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon warm water
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar (divided)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm whole milk
  • 7 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted, divided)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 3 ½ cups bread flour
  • For Cinnamon Honey Butter: ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water and half the sugar. Sprinkle in yeast and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix warmed milk, melted butter, remaining sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Add activated yeast mixture; stir gently.
  3. Beat in the egg and gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for about an hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the risen dough and shape into approximately 12 balls; place on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Allow to rise again for 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. While baking, prepare cinnamon honey butter by mixing softened butter, confectioners' sugar, honey, and cinnamon together.
  10. Brush baked rolls with leftover melted butter if desired and serve warm with cinnamon honey butter.
