  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 whole wheat hamburger buns
  • 1/2 cup sliced avocado
  • 1/4 cup salsa
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, red onion, and olive oil until combined.
  3. Add spices (chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper) and mix well.
  4. Crack in the egg and combine thoroughly to bind the mixture.
  5. Form into four equal patties.
  6. Grill patties for about 5-6 minutes per side until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
  7. Toast whole wheat buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes.
  8. Assemble by placing a patty on each bun and topping with avocado and salsa.
