  • 1 pound lean ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth or vegetable broth
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 15 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 8 lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • ½ cup grated mozzarella
  • ½ cup ricotta cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey until fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
  2. Transfer the meat to the slow cooker. Add diced onion, minced garlic, broth, marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, and seasonings (basil, parsley, onion powder, oregano, rosemary, red pepper flakes). Stir well.
  3. Cover and cook on Low for 6-8 hours or High for 3-4 hours.
  4. About 30 minutes before serving, stir in broken lasagna noodles and cover again until noodles are tender.
  5. Finally, mix in balsamic vinegar and grated parmesan cheese; season to taste with salt and pepper.
  6. Serve hot topped with mozzarella and dollops of ricotta.
