  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 3/4 cups white flour (plus 3/4 cup, separated)
  • 1/4 cup dark cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large nonstick pot, warm milk, oil, and sugar to about 120F. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for a few minutes.
  2. Mix in flour and cocoa powder, cover with a tea towel, and let rise for about 1 hour.
  3. Add salt, baking powder, baking soda, and more flour; knead until smooth.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread peanut butter over it, sprinkle with sugar and chocolate chips.
  5. Roll tightly from one side and cut into slices; place in a greased baking pan.
  6. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise again for about 1 hour.
  7. Preheat oven to 375F and bake for 15–18 minutes until tops are dry.
  8. While baking, prepare frosting by mixing cream cheese, butter, peanut butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  9. Frost cooled rolls and top with chopped peanut butter cups before serving.
