  • 500 ml milk
  • 100 g white sugar
  • 7 g active dry yeast
  • 640 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g dark cocoa powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground coffee (optional)
  • 150 g brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • some butter curls
  • 120 g cream cheese
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • 120 g powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp dark cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, melt butter and combine with warm milk. Stir in white sugar and yeast; let sit until frothy (5-10 minutes).
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add to yeast mixture until a dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  4. Roll out dough into a rectangle. Spread with butter curls and sprinkle brown sugar mixed with cinnamon.
  5. Roll tightly into a log and slice into 15 even pieces. Place in a greased baking dish to rise again for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden.
  7. For frosting, mix cream cheese with milk; gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa until smooth.
  8. Drizzle frosting over warm rolls before serving.
