  • 1 pound rigatoni pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup chopped sweet yellow onion
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 48 ounces marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (divided)
  • 6 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease your baking dish.
  2. Cook rigatoni in salted boiling water until al dente; drain.
  3. In a Dutch oven, heat olive oil and sauté onions until soft. Add ground beef and cook until browned; drain excess grease and stir in garlic.
  4. Mix in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and black pepper; simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Combine cooked rigatoni with the sauce and stir in ¼ cup Parmesan cheese.
  6. Transfer to the baking dish, layer with mozzarella and remaining Parmesan.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; uncover and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
